MARK
YOUR CALENDARS for
the Spring conference!
|
|
|
Join your VMATYC colleagues on April 2nd and 3rd, 2010 for the annual conference, to be at the
John H. Daniel campus of Southside Community College. The Daniel campus
is located in Keysville, in a beautiful rural setting in southern
Virginia.
Because Keysville has limited
lodging facilities, lodging arrangements are being made with the
Hampton Inn and the Super 8 Motel in Farmville, about a half-hour drive
north of Keysville. All conference events, however, will be held on
campus. The Friday night banquet will be a catered affair in the new
campus Workforce Development Building auditorium. Presentations and
workshops will be held in classrooms equipped with Smartboards and two
computer labs.
Be on the lookout for an e-mail this month asking for
conference presenters. The conference is a great opportunity to tell
others about the teaching techniques that you are using in the
classroom or the mathematical research that you are engaged in. It is
also a stimulating venue to discuss various issues concerning the
teaching of mathematics at two-year colleges. When you receive your
"call for presenters" e-mail, please thoughtfully consider how you
might share your experience as a conference presenter.

|
This year, there will be a pre-conference
survey of our members to obtain ideas for the conference and find out
what member expectations for the conference are. Keep an eye out for an
e-mail on this in this next couple of months.
If you have any ideas for the conference and do not want to wait for
the survey, please feel free to share them with John Gallo, the
conference chair, at tcgallj@tcc.edu, or Pardha Gadiyaram (Gadi), the
host site coordinator, at
Pardha.Gadiyaram@southside.edu.
